Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

why should the watchtower cult be concerned?
we are living sooo close to the end and a few dubs that could catch it--and die--will get resurrected anyway.

Name one POSITIVE thing you took from your experience as a Witness
by geodude ini was thinking about this at work the other day, and realized the one positive thing i can truly credit the jws with: .
i have no fear of public speaking.
i was a shy kid, fat, clumsy, with crooked glasses and worse teeth, who wore hand-me-downs in one of the wealthiest counties in all of america, who sat still while classmates got up to salute the flag or recite the pledge of allegiance.

not a born in--but the watchtower cult was all i had known since a pre-teen. i was baptised at 14, pioneer at 16, servant at 18. it was all i knew. married to a born in at 20 ( for sex ). wife became pregnant when i was 23..and i was already having a lot of doubts. the blood policy really got to me as a father to be. i never had any real interest in the religion..it was all a sham to please others.
so i quit.

when i cleared my late jw dad's house out, i dumped all the books, 50 years worth of magazines--all filed in empty corn flakes boxes, congregation records..the whole damn lot went to the tip. i should have taken it all to the hall and burned the lot in the car park.

It must be extremely hard for an individual who has spent a lifetime believing something to admit to themselves that they have been misled all of those years .
Is it pride ? stubbornness ? embarrassment ? guilt ? that prevents a person from admitting that to themselves ?looking back 50 years ago--i was a young man, married--buying my first house, gave up pioneering a year before and now earning good money.
we had a new circuit servant--a young man and his wife..not much older than me. Bevan Vigo. first time i had met a circo that wasnt already one foot in the grave. he was a very likeable guy. Any Brits remember him ?
i read on here a year or 2 back that he was now at the London beth hell..along with Peter Ellis--another i remember from back then.
i wonder what those guys really think deep down. Do they know their lives have been a complete waste of time? What have they got for it ?

My wife and I have begun our fade
by James Jack ini haven’t posted in awhile.
my wife asked me after the year 2000 came and went without fanfare(because the wt organization said all the “new world” would be here within this 20th century would end), “ what would it take for you to leave the truth?”.
my reply was “ if i turn 60 in this “system of things”.

I hate to burst your bubble, Stan, but NO ONE considers 72 to be "young".
my wife does.

Marital sex
by Tedeily inmy wife and i have always shared naked photos respectfully over the years.
being the only thing to fill that void in our relationship due to being apart.
recently my wife has become jehovah, and we’re not sure if my wife is allowed to respectfully share herself with me while i am away.
